We consider tachyons in _ve-dimensional spacetime with the canonical met-ric and the conformally-at metric respectively. The four-dimensional e_ective cosmological constant _ is calculated. The modi_ed Newton's gravitational force law is di_erent from that of slower-than-light particles. The vacuum instability is also discussed.
